Why your small business needs a blog

A blog... surely just the realm of creatives, students, world travellers and tech geeks?

Perhaps not.

A blog, by definition, is a web page that is updated regularly, in a conversational and informal style.

The difference between a blog and a website, is that a blog updates continuously, whereas a website mostly remains the same, unless it is e-commerce. And that's what makes blogs so important.

They update, all the time. The document updates.

And you can use this for the benefit of your business.

Your website might say what you do generally, who you are, where you are, even, why you are. But a blog adds another dimension to this.

Your business blog can act as an extension of your website, documenting your day to day business successes.

But why is this important for your business?

It's basically a free platform to shout about yourself.

Got a new manager? Do a mini profile.

Trialling a new product or tool? Write a review.

Helped in the community? Share the story.

Working on a big project? Document your journey.

Won a new client? Tell the internet why.

All of this is so important for gaining new clients, and improving your branding and public perception. Showing your day to day working life, sharing what your employees are doing and celebrating their successes, and showcasing why future potential clients should work with you too.

And it's constantly updating.

Then use it across your social channels.
