Everyone is on social media right? And if they're not they're probably a 90 year old pension who still has a wind up phone and thinks Facebook is a coffee table book about peoples faces.

So if you're on social media, why shouldn't your business be too?

You might be thinking that you have nothing to share, nothing to say, and almost definitely don't have the time - but here's why you should have social media for your business.

1. Increase your searchability

Every single social media channel creates an additional link to your business website, which means more chances for your business to show up in search engines, and for people, your potential clients and customers, to find you.

2. Share your successes

It's a great way to share your successes. Done a great job for a client today? Share it on Instagram. Won a bid? Tweet about it!

3. Become interactive

Social media give you the opportunity to talk to your customers and clients. They can ask you questions. Leave feedback. Answer polls. And all of this can help you develop your business plan and ensure you are providing what your customers need.

4. Free promotion

Setting up social media channels is completely free. You just have to take that first step and get yourself live. Then it's just about content. (And we can help you with that too)

5. Employee communications

You can create groups on Facebook for your employees to chat. You can invite them to like your pages, and then they in turn can share in your business successes. Talk about them on your channels (get their consent first!) and you're likely to get even more shares, and potentially more business exposure.

6. Exposure

Both clients, customers and anyone else on the internet can see what you're up to, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you've been particularly good, you could even get picked up by the local media, and then you're in the realms of even more exposure in the press!

7. Competition

It's pretty likely your competitors are on social media. And doing the same thing isn't a bad thing. You don't want them having the monopoly on the online world for your industry. And if they aren't, then maybe you can have the online world to yourselves.
